I haven’t been app-coding much at all lately. All my ideas for how to conquer App Store have all been too complex for what little time I have. I really should have spent the time coding small apps just to keep on top on the craft as such. It’s now on my Personal Kaizen list to spend a few hours every week learning the iOS platform better. Unless I have an app idea that I’m working on of course. Then the learning comes automatically.=)
Right now I have an idea for an app that should be small enough for me to carry out yet unique enough for it to keep me interested and committed. I’ve decided to make it iOS 5 only to let me use cool new tech like Storyboards. I sort of have understood the concept, but trying to make an app using Storyboards immediately had me stuck. I think I must learn it from the ground up. Googling it some I quickly found a most excellent tutorial on the subject, split up in two parts:
It is two free chapters from a book on learning many iOS 5 things. The tutorials are clearly written by an expert, using good, to-the-point, prose and with just enough context so that I understand why things are done the way they are done. Bloody great! I think I’ll order the book, at least if I can find it as an e-book of some kind.
